HyperArc accurately targets multiple tumours while ensuring limited doses of radiation to surrounding healthy brain tissue.

What is HyperArc?

HyperArc is the latest technological advancement from Varian Medical Systems. It provides an end-to-end solution for multiple brain tumours and is primarily used to treat secondary brain tumours (those that have spread from other parts of the body).

The software seamlessly connects with the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator (the machine that delivers radiotherapy) and allows for automated planning and the ability to accurately target multiple tumours while ensuring limited doses of radiation to surrounding healthy brain tissue. This also reduces the impact of side effects compared to traditional radiation to the brain, including headaches and hair loss.

How is it delivered?

Unlike some systems that require multiple setup points, HyperArc is able to deliver treatment to all targeted brain tumours using the one setup point. This means less time on the bed for the patient and quicker treatment times, with treatment being delivered in as little as three sessions.

The process is completed in the safest way possible with one single process from start to finish, including a virtual dry run feature ensuring treatments can be quality checked and tested and setup times for patients reduced.
