Biography
I strive to provide a supportive and reassuring experience for every patient I care for. I believe in taking the time to listen, communicate clearly and work in partnership with patients and their loved ones. My goal is to ensure each person feels respected, well-informed and empowered to make decisions that align with their values and what matters most to them.
Dr Ghassan Zammar is a Perth-trained clinical haematologist at Icon Cancer Centre Rockingham. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours at The University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle) in 2014, graduating with the prestigious School of Medicine Medal.
Dr Zammar has worked across all major tertiary hospitals in Western Australia, gaining extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of blood cancers and blood disorders. He completed his specialist haematology training and fellowship in 2025 with Blood Cancer Research WA (BCRWA), where he served as an investigator in more than 30 clinical trials, including advanced CAR-T cell therapies and targeted antibody treatments. His passion for clinical trials and research won him the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Trainee Research Award in 2025.
He is an active member of several national haematology groups including the Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group (ALLG), Australasian Lymphoma Alliance (ALA) and WA Myeloma Interest Group (WAMiG). His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Blood, The British Journal of Haematology, Pathology and Clinical Lymphoma, Myeloma & Leukemia.
Dr Zammar’s clinical interests include haematological malignancies, with subspecialty expertise in multiple myeloma, lymphoma and myeloproliferative neoplasms. He is dedicated to providing personalised, patient-centred care with a strong focus on improving outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with blood cancers and blood disorders.
