Dr Saad Maqsood is dedicated to delivering world-class cancer care for his patients from initial consultation, through to treatment and beyond. Biography

Dr Saad Maqsood is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Rockingham. In 2004, he completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Kyber Medical College, Pakistan, and subsequently pursued a surgical pathway, receiving training across various Pakistani hospitals. He worked for Te Whatu Ora as a house surgeon in general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics and gynaecology across Tauranga Public, Whakatane, and Waikato Hospitals in New Zealand. During this tenure, he was a member of Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty District Health Boards.

Dr Maqsood undertook specialist radiation oncology  training at Waikato and Auckland City Hospitals and became a fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2018. He has held consultant radiation oncologist appointments at various tertiary hospitals and cancer centres across New Zealand (Dunedin, Palmerston North), Australia (Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales), and Pakistan.

With more than a decade of experience using an extensive range of radiation therapy techniques across various tumour types, he can confidently guide patients through the various treatment options available and provide exceptional care, tailored to individual circumstances. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr Maqsood has a deep commitment to clinical governance, medical education and research. He was awarded a senior adjunct research fellow position at Monash University, Melbourne, and served as a clinical lead on the Northern Territory arm of the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry – Australia and New Zealand Steering Committee.

Dr Maqsood speaks fluent English, Hindi, Hindko, Punjabi, Pushto and Urdu, and looks forward to caring for patients and their loved ones in their preferred language. His clinical experience covers a wide range of solid tumour malignancies, and he has a special interest in breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.
