Dr Caris Chong is a thoughtful and compassionate radiation oncologist who values a patient-centred approach grounded in evidence-based practice. Having worked across a range of high-volume and regional centres, Dr Chong is experienced in delivering high-quality care tailored to individual needs and clinical settings. She is committed to combining the latest research with personalised care to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.
Biography
Dr Chong completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Western Australia in 2009. She trained in radiation oncology through the West Australian Training Network, completing her specialist training at Sir Charles Gairdner and Fiona Stanley Hospitals.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and completed a clinical and research fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Murdoch, focusing on the use of stereotactic radiotherapy and the MRI Linac. Dr Chong has published research on stereotactic and adaptive radiotherapy, particularly in primary and metastatic liver lesions and early-stage lung cancer. Her research has been featured at ASTRO, RANZCR ASM and MRL Consortium. She remains actively involved in ongoing research holding roles as Principal Investigator and Associate Investigator on several national clinical trials.
Dr Chong has a wide range of experience across multiple metro and regional centres. Additionally, she is currently practicing at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital using Cyberknife in the treatment of malignant and benign conditions and taking an active role in training and supervising radiation oncology trainees and junior doctors. She is committed to evidence-based, patient-centred care across multiple tumour sites, including breast, lung, liver, skin, prostate, and gastrointestinal cancers, with a focus on regional and rural accessibility.
