Icon Cancer Centre's Australian research network, part of Icon Group, has achieved Gold Workforce Process Quality Certification (WPQC) and renewed its Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites (GCSA) certification.
Awarded by the International Accrediting Organisation for Clinical Research (IAOCR), the achievement builds on a 2024 milestone as the first Australian organisation to receive both certifications recognising the quality, governance and workforce capability underpinning its clinical trial and research program delivery.
Celebrating the people behind research excellence
Icon Group Executive Manager – Research Sophie Mepham PhD, said the recognition reflects the dedication of teams across the organisation’s research network.
Achieving WPQC Gold alongside renewed GCSA Certification is a significant milestone.
Over the past 12 months, our teams have strengthened our systems, processes and workforce capability to further enhance the quality and delivery of clinical trials and research delivery across our Australian network.
This recognition reflects a culture of continuous improvement and the expertise of our research workforce, who are committed to delivering world-class research and care.
Expanding access to innovative treatments and world-class care
Clinical research plays a critical role in improving outcomes for people affected by cancer by providing access to innovative therapies and treatments.
"Clinical research is ultimately about creating better options for patients," Sophie said.
"These certifications give sponsors, CROs and patients confidence that our research is delivered through strong governance, high-quality systems and a patient-focused approach.”
Aligned with internationally recognised best practice and modern ICH-GCP principles, Sophie said the achievement marks another step forward in the Group’s ongoing research journey.
“This certification reinforces that Icon is a place where talented clinicians and researchers can help shape the future of cancer care and deliver meaningful benefits for patients.”
