Biography
Professor Nick Bucknell is a specialist radiation oncologist with experience in conventional and stereotactic radiation therapy. He has a particular interest in using advanced technologies to reduce the side effects associated with radiation therapy. He also has an interest in the use of radiation to treat benign diseases.
After completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at University of Western Australia in 2012, Professor Bucknell completed specialist training in Victoria at both the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre. He was awarded Fellowship of the College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne. He subsequently undertook a research fellowship at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre focusing on reducing toxicity using stereotactic radiation therapy and PET imaging.
Professor Bucknell’s research has been published in leading radiation oncology journals and recognised through research prizes. He has been an invited speaker to national and international meetings. Professor Bucknell is Chair of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Lung Interest Committee and an Adjunct Professor at the UWA where he supervises PhD and master’s students.
