Biography

Dr Cienne Morton brings highly specialised experience in thoracic and hepatopancreatobiliary malignancies and in early phase cancer trials from a world-leading cancer centre. She values clear communication and works closely with patients and their loved ones to support informed, personalised decision-making. Dr Morton has a strong interest in early phase clinical trials, maximising treatment options for patients.

Dr Cienne Morton is an Australian-trained medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre South Brisbane. She completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland in 2012 before undertaking specialist medical oncology training in Queensland through the Royal Australian College of Physicians, achieving Fellowship in 2020.

 Dr Morton completed a two‑year fellowship in early phase cancer trials at Guy’s Hospital in London, working within the King’s Health Partners Early Phase Trials Unit. She subsequently held a consultant medical oncologist position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, with a focus on thoracic and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) malignancies. During this time, she contributed to translational cancer research as a visiting scientist at King’s College London.

 She has experience across Queensland and United Kingdom tertiary hospital networks, including roles at the Mater Cancer Care Centre, Sunshine Coast and Metro North Hospital and Health Services. Having returned to Brisbane, Dr Morton is focused on contributing to the growth of early phase clinical trials in Queensland and improving access to emerging therapies for patients where appropriate.
 Dr Morton treats a broad range of cancers and has a special clinical interest in early phase clinical trials, lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic malignancies, melanoma and skin cancers, HPB cancers and colorectal cancers.
