Biography

Dr Chia Low is dedicated to providing tailored, high-quality evidence-based cancer care. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique situation, offering clear guidance and support to help them navigate their treatment with confidence and peace of mind.

Dr Chia Low is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Canberra. Originally from Malaysia, she completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences (iBSc) at University College London in 2014 before moving to Canberra in 2016. Following this, she undertook specialist radiation oncology training in Canberra and Newcastle and obtained fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2024. Dr Low was awarded the prestigious Kaye Scott Prize for outstanding performance in the Phase 2 Radiation Oncology Exams.

Dr Low is a highly skilled and compassionate radiation oncologist dedicated to delivering personalised, evidence-based care. In particular, she is passionate about continuing efforts to personalise radiation therapy, through integration of artificial intelligence into radiation treatment, as well as the role of molecular biomarkers in tailoring treatment to meet individual patient needs.

In addition to her clinical role, Dr Low is committed to mentoring medical students and future radiation oncology trainees. Her clinical experience covers a broad range of malignancies, with areas of special interest including breast, urology and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Outside of work, Dr Low enjoys staying active as a qualified gym instructor and trains in boxing under the guidance of a coach. She also contributes to healthcare initiatives, including the Canberra Health Services Wellbeing Boost for Radiation Oncology. Having made Canberra her home, she loves spending quality time with her family exploring everything the city has to offer.
