Biography
Dr Amulya Koti is dedicated to delivering excellent medical care through a holistic and evidence-based approach. With extensive training in radiation oncology, she strives to significantly advance the field and enhance patient outcomes and deliver compassionate and effective treatment strategies.
Dr Amulya Koti is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Cantre in Canberra. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, India in 2012.
Her pursuit of excellence continued as she completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Radiation Oncology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. She graduated with first-class honours for both degrees and was awarded two university gold medals for securing the highest marks in radiation oncology exams.
Dr Koti commenced her specialist radiation oncology training in India at Christian Medical College, before moving to Australia in 2020, where she completed her training at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals in Sydney, New South Wales. Dr Koti was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in 2023.
She has gained a broad exposure to medical oncology and palliative care medicine during her training and worked across different nations with diverse healthcare systems. This diverse experience has made her a well-rounded clinician, capable of delivering holistic and evidence-based medical care.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Koti maintains an active involvement in research and clinical excellence. She was the principal investigator for studies comparing radiotherapy techniques and examining interfraction variations in high-dose brachytherapy.
Dr Koti’s work has been presented at various national conferences, where she has received accolades for her scientific contributions. Her paper on the role of radiotherapy in giant cell tumours of the axial skeleton won the Best Scientific Paper award at the Young Radiation Oncologist Conference. Dr Koti has also involved in teaching medical students at the University of Sydney and junior doctors at the Nepean Blue Mountains Hospital including assisting with mock examination for state radiation oncology trainees.
In 2024, Dr Koti has led the project in commencing dedicated pre-radiotherapy dental services for head and neck cancer patients at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Dr Koti’s clinical experience covers a wide range of solid tumour malignancies, with a special interest in gastrointestinal cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynaecological cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, and palliative care.
