Biography

Dr Roya Merie is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Concord. In 2009 she completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Jordan and upon graduating began formal training at Jordan University Hospital. Dr Merie underwent her radiation oncology training at St George, Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals, including a year of fellowship training in thoracic malignancies. In 2019 she became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and was then appointed as a staff specialist in radiation oncology at Liverpool and Campbelltown hospitals until joining the team at Icon Cancer Centre Concord.

Dr Merie maintains a strong interest in clinical research and medical education, actively engaging in medical student and registrar education through her conjoint lecturer position at the University of New South Wales. She has co-authored several journal articles in leading national and international medical publications and has presented her work at various oncology conferences across Australia. She is an active member of many leading medical associations including the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG).

Her clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with a special interest in breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, lung cancer and haematological malignancies, as well as palliative radiation therapy.
