Biography
Dr Rohan Nair is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre sites in Mulgrave, Holmesglen and Moreland. In 2002, he completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Dundee in Scotland, United Kingdom and undertook specialist radiation oncology training in Victoria, Australia. Dr Nair completed a radiation oncology SABR clinical and research fellowship at Alfred Health, with a focus on clinical trials and multidisciplinary management of neuro-oncology and thoracic malignancies. In 2015, he became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and worked a consultant radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Gosford and Gosford Hospital from 2016-2017.
With a strong interest in clinical trials, research and medical education, Dr Nair led the development of the Gippsland Radiation Oncology stereotactic program in collaboration with Alfred Health. During his tenure at La Trobe Regional Hospital in Gippsland, Dr Nair was the Director of Training and Radiation Oncology Research Operations Clinical Representative as well as chair of the skin, gastrointestinal and surgical multidisciplinary care teams (MDTs) and deputy chair of the lung and urology MDTs. He is actively involved in clinical trials and teaching and examining programs for advanced trainees, junior medical officers and undergraduate students. Dr Nair is an active member of the Radiosurgery Society (RSS) and has been selected as a mentee in the mentorship program by Professor Simon Lo – a distinguished expert in radiation oncology/SABR and neurological surgery at the University of Washington, Seattle. He continues to maintain a professional relationship with Professor Lo, benefitting from his invaluable guidance and mentorship.
Dr Nair speaks fluent English and Malay, and looks forward to caring for patients and their loved ones in their preferred language. His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with a special interest in upper and lower gastrointestinal cancer, breast cancer, genitourinary cancer, thoracic malignancies, skin cancer and tumours of the central nervous system.
