Biography
Dr Marcel Knesl is a consultant radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Maroochydore and has a consultant radiation oncologist appointment at the newly opened Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He is currently Icon’s Director of Radiation Oncology.
After completing an undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr Knesl moved to Auckland, New Zealand where he trained in radiation oncology at Auckland Hospital. During this time Dr Knesl became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
Dr Knesl began practicing radiation oncology on the Sunshine Coast in 2006. Marcel went on to complete the Graduate Diploma of Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Recent appointments include Icon’s Director of Radiation Oncology, the Icon Medical Advisory Committee, and the academic appointment of Senior Lecturer Griffith University lecturing medical students at the Griffith Medical School, Sunshine Coast.
Dr Knesl’s special interests include breast, colorectal, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary malignancies, stereotactic radiation therapy and palliative care.
