Biography
Dr Kevin So is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Freemasons, Richmond, Mulgrave, Moreland and Geelong. In 2005 Dr So completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Monash University and subsequently commenced specialist oncology training at Alfred Health and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in 2015.
Dr So has expertise with the use of advanced radiation therapy techniques including stereotactic radiation therapy (SRS/SRT/SABR/SBRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy/volumetric modulated arc therapy (IMRT/VMAT). His main research interests include stereotactic radiosurgery for functional (benign) and oligometastatic (malignant) disease, as well as the use of advanced technology to further improve the delivery and accuracy of radiation treatment.
Dr So is principal investigator for TREMOR – a phase II study investigating the safety and effectiveness of frameless linac-based stereotactic radiosurgery on tremor in patients with essential tremor or Parkinson’s disease. He is also a co-investigator for SHRINC – a phase II study investigating the use of stereotactic radiosurgery for the treatment of multiple (up to 10) brain metastases. He is a treating specialist at the Jreissati Family Pancreatic Centre located within Epworth.
His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with a special interest in gastrointestinal cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, genitourinary cancer, breast cancer, haematological and central nervous system (CNS) malignancies.
