Biography

Dr Adam Byrne is committed to providing exceptional patient care through a personalised and forward-thinking approach. He combines clear communication with evidence-based practice, working closely with patients and their loved ones to support the best possible outcomes.

Dr Adam Byrne is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Hobart. In 2016, he completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) at the National University of Ireland, Galway before undertaking specialist training across the South Australia and Northern Territory training network. In 2024, he was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).

Dr Byrne has published research in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in teaching, mentorship and quality improvement initiatives. He serves as Director of Training for Radiation Oncology and Radiation Oncology Staff Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital. In 2025, he contributed to the development of national skin cancer guidelines through his role on the eviQ Reference Committee for Skin Cancer Radiation Therapy.

He has extensive experience across a broad range of cancer types, with a special clinical interest in central nervous system (CNS) tumours, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, and breast cancer. Dr Byrne specialises in advanced radiation therapy techniques, including stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and palliative radiation therapy.
