Dr Chong graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine New Zealand. Working across many hospitals in Sydney, Dr Chong underwent physician training at Concord Repatriation and General Hospital and completed specialty training at Westmead and Nepean Cancer Care Centres. She gained fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (FRANZCR) in October 2008.
She has presented at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists and published in the area of treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology. She has an ongoing special interest in the best practice management of melanoma and non-melanomatous skin cancers. Prior to her current position, Dr Chong worked as a staff specialist at the Breast Cancer Institute, Westmead Hospital.
In addition to breast and skin cancer, her interests include the treatment of lung cancer, palliative care, gastrointestinal cancers, sarcomas and haematological malignancies. She is currently investigating differing fractionation schedules and the role of brachytherapy in management of aggressive sarcomas.
Dr Chong is a clinical tutor for University of Sydney medical program based at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School. She actively supports and collaborates with medical and surgical oncologists in multi-centre clinical trials. Dr Chong is fluent in Mandarin. She follows an integrated approach to patient management and actively participates in multidisciplinary team conferences to elevate the level of care for oncology patients.
