Dr Duncan Taylor is a fully accredited specialist plastic surgeon working in Perth, Western Australia, with over 20 years of specialist training and experience. He holds specialist status, being board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery from both the United Kingdom (Royal College of Surgeons of England) and Australia (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons).
After obtaining his primary medical degree (MBChB) from Sheffield University (UK) in 2002, Duncan was selectively appointed to both basic and higher specialist training programmes in plastic and reconstructive surgery. During this time, he further developed his sub-specialist interests in surgical oncology, microsurgery reconstruction and hand surgery.
Duncan undertook two specialist fellowships to further his experience and interests in microsurgical (cancer) reconstruction. Initially at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in 2014, followed by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals (UK) in 2015, the latter being internationally recognised as one of the leading microsurgical reconstructive centres.
Duncan returned to Perth in 2016 to take up consultant posts at both Fiona Stanley and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Here he has continued his dedicated work in surgical oncology, focusing on skin and melanoma and microsurgical reconstruction (predominantly autologous breast reconstruction).
