An advocate of shared decision-making and a patient-centred approach, Dr Vanitha Budhavaram (Bud) brings a wealth of experience, skills, and knowledge to deliver compassionate and holistic care to her patients.
Dr Bud is a specialist breast and general surgeon trained in the field of breast cancer and oncoplastic surgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and a full member of BreastSurgANZ. She is also a GESA accredited endoscopist.
On completing her undergraduate training, Dr Bud undertook a master’s degree in general surgery. She also completed the MRCS program from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Following her surgical fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Bud underwent accredited oncoplastic breast surgery training under BreastSurgANZ at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and obtained her Masters in Breast Surgery from the University of Sydney.
Dr Bud is Head of Breast Surgery Services at Royal Perth Hospital. She provides breast and general surgical services at Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital and St John of God Midland Hospital. She is a member of Breast Cancer Trials Group (BCT) and the Australian Society for Breast Diseases (ASBD). She works closely with BreastScreenWA and has an established multidisciplinary team.
Dr Bud has a special clinical interest in breast cancer surgery, breast implant-based reconstruction, breast symmetrisation, laparoscopic surgery, colonoscopy and gastroscopy.
She can speak English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and looks forward to conversing with patients in a language they are familiar with.
