Psycho-oncology addresses the relationship between cancer and psychological health and acknowledges that cancer impacts more than just the body.

A cancer diagnosis is an overwhelming time that brings a range of emotional, social and psychological concerns, not just for the person concerned, but also for their loved ones. Although everyone’s experience is unique, adjustment to treatment and feelings of anxiety, depression, grief and distress are common in people living with cancer, and these can be difficult to manage. Relationships with others and one’s usual lifestyle can also be affected.

The psycho-oncology service at Icon Cancer Centre provides a confidential and supportive space for patients and their families to discuss their challenges and care for their mental health.
