What is image guided radiotherapy?

Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) is a radiotherapy technique that utilises the most advanced imaging equipment and computer software.

This includes MRI, CT and x-ray to increase the radiation therapist's ability to precisely target a tumour with radiation beams.

This type of therapy is very useful in areas of the body that move a lot, such as the lungs.

HyperSight™

HyperSight™ is an advanced imaging technology used during image-guided radiotherapy to help your care team see the treatment area clearly before treatment is delivered.

You’ll remain comfortably positioned on the treatment couch while a quick, 6 second scan is taken in the treatment room. Your care team reviews this image as part of the routine checks performed before treatment begins.

Clear images support accurate positioning, helping ensure radiation is directed where it’s needed while protecting nearby healthy tissue.
