Wearing an immobilisation mask for radiotherapy

What are immobilisation masks?

An immobilisation mask is a specially made mask to assist with staying still during radiation therapy treatment. Knowing what to expect can help you prepare and reduce any anxiety you may be feeling.

Open-face mask radiotherapy with SGRT

Surface guided radiotherapy (SGRT) uses advanced optical cameras to track a patient’s position and natural breathing in real time, supporting highly targeted radiotherapy while reducing the need for traditional positioning methods.

SGRT enables treatment with an open-face mask, offering an alternative to traditional full-face masks that may be restrictive and difficult to tolerate. This can be particularly beneficial for patients who experience anxiety or claustrophobia, making radiotherapy more manageable without compromising treatment accuracy or safety.
