Biography
Dr Hester Lieng is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Gosford. In 2005 she completed her Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours at the University of New South Wales. Dr Lieng subsequently undertook specialist radiation oncology training at Westmead, Nepean and Royal North Shore Hospitals. She also completed a genitourinary clinical and research fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada. In 2016 Dr Lieng became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR).
Dr Lieng is actively involved in clinical research and medical education, with a particular interest in breast, gynaecological and genitourinary cancers. She is the principal investigator for the EXPERT (examining personalised radiation therapy for low-risk early breast cancer) clinical trial at Gosford Hospital. Dr Lieng is an invited speaker at national and international conferences and is also involved in medical student and registrar education through her conjoint senior lecturer and radiation oncology coordinator positions at the University of Newcastle and NSW Radiation Oncology Training Network.
