Biography
Dr Elango Subramonia Pillai is a clinical haematologist and BMT physician with Icon Cancer Centre, consulting at Chermside.
Dr Pillai is a haematologist with clinical interests in malignant and non-malignant haematology in particular in the management of acute and chronic leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma and autologous/allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Dr Pillai is currently a staff specialist in the Department of Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital. He is also a visiting haematologist at the Prince Charles hospital and Mater private hospital
He has an ongoing keen interest in clinical research and is a co-investigator in a number of clinical trials in leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. He has publications in the areas of acute leukaemia, and allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
In addition, Dr Pillai is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and continues to be involved in teaching medical students and physician trainees.
