Hamish Straker appointed site manager to lead new Gamma Knife® service at Herston

Icon Cancer Centre is pleased to share that Hamish Straker has been appointed Site Manager for our new Gamma Knife® service at Herston Private Hospital in Brisbane, set to open later this year.

Hamish has been a valued member of Icon Group since 2013, bringing over a decade of experience in radiation therapy and clinical leadership. His extensive background in delivering complex cancer care, coupled with a strong commitment to patient-centred innovation, makes him ideally positioned to lead this important initiative.

The Herston facility will become Queensland’s first private Gamma Knife® service and only the fourth in Australia and is a significant milestone in expanding access to one of the most advanced neurological, brain and cranial treatment technologies available.

This appointment supports our commitment to clinical innovation and world-class patient care and reflects our continued focus on leadership in next-generation cancer treatment.

Deputy State Manager for Queensland, Cassandra O’Brien congratulated Hamish on his new appointment, praising his commitment and leadership.
