Dr Arman Kuyumcian takes a personal approach to cancer care, always considering the overall picture including the physical, social and emotional needs of his patients to tailor individualised treatment. Arman involves his patients in decision making and provides support to alleviate any worry or fears along the way. Alongside achieving the best possible clinical outcome, Arman believes in maximising quality of life for patients and their loved ones.
Dr Arman Kuyumcian is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Mulgrave, working as a generalist, treating all types of cancers (with an interest in genitourinary, gastrointestinal, breast, CNS, and lung cancers), and employs the latest technologies including stereotactic radiotherapy, volumetric arc radiation therapy (VMAT), breath-hold radiotherapy for breast cancer, cone beam CT, and adaptive radiotherapy.
The breadth of his experience has come from training he received at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and then consultant posts with Ballarat and Austin Radiation Oncology Centre, followed by Alfred Radiation Oncology and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO).
While at GRO he has developed Gippsland’s first brachytherapy service for prostate cancer, has chaired the Gippsland Regional Integrated Cancer Centre’s Multidisciplinary Meeting, and was the Director of Training at GRO. His area of research has been in urological cancers.
Before training in radiation oncology, Dr Kuyumcian has worked in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. His medical training was at The University of Melbourne.
After working in rural Victoria, he is very pleased to return to the City of Monash to work, where he was born, raised and educated – and now lives with his wife and daughter.
